People who work strictly with graphics may be experts in 3D as well as 2d drawings, and/or animation. But there are far more people capable of mid-level graphics design, so if you want a position as being a graphics designer alone, you will have to be very good at it.

Graphics designers may interact with anything from simple webdesign including banner and logos, to heavy 3d modeling and animation, many also got skills in webdesign, I.E. HTML + CSS.

They may also work for architects, since some architects like to hire people to do their drawings in AutoCAD and/or 3d studio max, i'm not sure but software such as Autodesk Inventor may also be involved in some cases.

Designing is a vast field and with so many domains. Architecting or Interior designing is a separate field. Graphics designing is also a different domain. Similarly, Logo design is categorized into branding field. The one can never be a pro in all of these fields. If you need to expertise, you have to go for one or maximum of two domains.

Design encompasses many diverse areas of specialization. Architecture and interior design are distinct fields, as is graphics design. Logo creation falls under brand design. It is impossible for one to become an expert across all domains, as mastery requires focus. For proficiency, choosing to concentrate skills in one or two specialized areas is recommended.
