Rev. Fr Kelvin Ugwu...

This saying of St Thomas Aquinas, right from the medieval time, still speaks volumes today:
"Whatever is received is received according to the mode of the receiver."
Two persons may be insulted by someone that both of them have never seen or known before. It is their different modes that will determine how each of them will receive and react to it.

I may crack what I will call a very dry joke, and you will be laughing and rolling on the floor. Yet, I may crack a joke another day that will make everyone to laugh, but you won't find it funny.
Mode is everything. . .

Everyone of us gets attracted to something that resonates with us. You might be a very emotional person, intellectual, sapiosexual, feminist, spiritual person etc. . .who you are and what you like, to a great extent, will determine who you will meet or who you will readily be open to.
It was the same Jesus whom Zacchaeus saw for a brief moment and became a changed person that Judas lived with, dined with, saw his miracles, listened to his teachings, but remained unmoved.

Someone can be in his room and call on God and the person will feel God's answers, another will have to travel from one country to another to see a "prophet" before he or she will feel God's answers.

No matter how motivating or apt you think a post or a talk can be, someone somewhere does not see what you are seeing. That is mode!
Electricity will only pass though a conductor. Water can only stay together in a container. In essence, the more open you are to receiving, the more you will receive. The more positive minded you are, the more you will attract positive minded people.

And this is the summary of Jesus' parable of the sower. . . The seeds that fell on the good soil did not find it difficult to germinate in hundred folds. We may preach all we can, if your heart is not open, you will be like Judas, even though you are dining with Jesus everyday and he is giving you words of wisdom every seconds, you won't be moved.

Your mode or manner or disposition matters a lot when it comes to receiving and growing.
Happy Sunday friends!
